Google has become an essential part of our life in so many ways that we cannot even imagine that the word has even become a verb as we are often heard to say let’s “Google” that.

Here are some amazing facts about google:

  1. On August 16, 2013, Google went down for 5 minutes and in that time, the global Internet traffic dropped by 40%. Thats shows how much dependency the search engine has created on the internet.
  2. In 1999, the founders of Google actually tried to sell it to Excite for just US$1 million. Excite turned them down.This might have been one of the costliest mistake of 21st century.
  3. Every day, 16% of the searches that occur are ones that Google has never seen before.
  4. Google hired a camel to create the Street View of a desert.
  5. The “I’m feeling lucky”button costs Google US$110 million per year, as it bypasses all ads.
  6. If you search for “askew” in Google, the content will tilt slightly to the right.

Type “zerg rush” and click Search in Google Search to play this  cheeky game. Your page is taken over by little o’s and you have to click  on them destroy them, before they destroy your search results.

4.How to Pronounce Big Numbers

To have Google Search teach you how to pronounce big numbers, just  type in the figure then add an equal (=) / (in) plus English. This works for up to 13 digits only. This works only for English language.

5. Generate a Graph Right from Google Search
You can also generate a graph instantly for a mathematical function.  For instance, search “graph for x^2” or “graph for tan(x)” and so on.  The search results return with the graph drawn.

7. Calculate the Waiter Tip with Google Tip Calculator

If you are poor with math but not with tips, use Google’s Tip  Calculator to do the math for you. Search “tip calculator” , enter your  bill amount, tip % and select the number of people contributing to the  bill to get how much your tip is.

8. Currency Conversion

Although currency conversions could be done via Google Currency  Converter but if you want to perform currency conversion directly from  Google search bar then just type the currency you want to convert from  and into like this: 100 gbp to usd. The search result will return with  the converted amount.

9. Rock and roll

Type “do a barrel roll” to make it do just that.

10. Searching for “google in 1998” gives you a retro version.

11. Amazing View of Earth

Go to Google Maps. Click on the satellite view and zoom out as much as possible. You can see an amazing view of earth with real time shadows. You can see real time clouds if you zoom in twice. Pretty amazing, right?

12.Google Tricks For Timer or Stopwatch:

Do you want to use Google as your Timer? if yes, you can. Use Google as a Timer or Stop Watch just like you use in a Watch or Mobile. Just set a time duration and it will alert you after completing the time duration.
